Stone Chair Detail

I spent some time at Lakeview Cemetery today taking pictures, and it was tough picking just one. In the next few days I'll try to get some more of the good ones up on www.jpgmag.com/people/mindylou.

I've been experimenting some with black and white recently. I'm still not sure when to go with bw over color, but this one seemed to work.

I have long wanted to play with black and white- it works well with window series, door series, garden gate series, up close details of sculpture, some people shots, sepia tone works well with city scape and quiet garden series, grave stones, gardne benches.... Enjoy that adventure! Another fun series would be finding a shape- heart shape, letters...in nature. For example, I find heart shapes every where. I have found tar spilled in the road and stuck there for years in the perfect shape of a heart, shells on the beach(one in Hawaii) in heart shape, rocks on mountain trails, clouds, leaves, a hair on a tile floor randomly folded like a heart. Pick a shape...any shape...and go and find. My niece is in design class. Her first assignment was to find the alphabet in nature or at least unmanipulated and unintentional to photograph. She had a blast!

Enjoy your adventure.
