Watching the Office

I remember from my previous photo-a-day attempts the feeling of getting to the end of the day and realizing I haven't taken a picture yet. Especially this time of year, when it gets dark so soon, it's disappointing to realize I've lost my chance to take a picture in natural light.

But, I'm glad I at least got something.

Flowers in a Pitcher

We were sitting watching Return of the Jedi today when I noticed the sun hitting this pitcher on our mantle. The flowers are my wedding bouquet (yellow roses with sprigs of rosemary) and I think the pitcher was a wedding gift from our dear friends the Hamptons (if you see this Barbara, correct me if I'm wrong). I grabbed my camera and snapped some pictures. Not totally pleased with how it came out--I wish it were sharper. But I couldn't take the time to pull out my tripod or mess with the settings too much, 'cause, you know. Star Wars.

Thanksgiving Fun

The boys spent much of the afternoon riding a big wheel around my mom's kitchen island today.

Unwilling Participant

Isaac didn't want to have his picture taken today...but he seemed to have fun trying to avoid the camera.

End of a Long Day

I had a really long day at the University of Akron today, first with InterVarsity staff colleagues and then with students. I didn't have a chance to think about taking pictures, but it would have been a nice opportunity, being in a busy place full of people. Hopefully as I get back into this habit I will be more intentional about looking for photo opportunities when I'm out in the world.

Tonight I'll have to be content with a picture of my dinner and book.

#YearWithoutTamir

Today I went to the vigil for Tamir Rice, a twelve-year old boy who was shot by police in Cleveland one year ago today.

It has been one year, and the handling of this case by the CPD and the county prosecutor defies understanding. If you want to know more you can read this article.

I wish I could have taken my nice DSLR and gone around getting some nicer photos, but it wouldn't have been appropriate. I took a few with my phone.

I'm Back - Photo a Day Nov. 21, 2015 through Nov. 20, 2016

Well, we'll see anyway....I've been thinking about doing this again for a while and thought maybe I should wait till Jan. 1. But by then I might change my mind so I'm going for it. The first time I did this I didn't have the convenience of carrying a camera in my phone everywhere I went, so that should make it a little more convenient.

Here's a pic of my dining room chandelier. It's already too dark for natural lighting, so I had to do something interesting with my artificial light. I like how the picture looks completely different than the actual thing because of the exposure.
